Overview

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that deals with the medical care of infants, children and adolescents. It is also called the arts and science of caring for children. It is now recognized as a separate subject in the undergraduate medical curriculum all over India. The subject course during MBBS training includes systematic instructions in growth and development, nutritional needs of a child, immunization schedules and management of common diseases of infancy and childhood, scope of Social Pediatrics and counseling The broad goals of the teaching of undergraduate students in Pediatrics are to acquire knowledge and appropriate skills for optimally dealing with major health problems of children and to ensure their optimal growth and development.

Facilities

The department manages a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions. Patients requiring urgent attention and intensive care are treated in Medical ICU, ICCU etc. Facilities to carry out routine operations along with 24 hours emergency services are available.
